Memorial University of Newfoundland, the host institution of AquaNet, sponsored the AquaNet Distinguished Lectureship Series. This series provides a forum through which esteemed aquaculture experts can foster awareness and promote discussion of issues that are key to the long-term sustainability of Canadian aquaculture. The 2002 AquaNet Distinguished Lecturer is Dr. Barry Costa-Pierce who gave a presentation on: "Ecological Aquaculture: The Evolution of the Blue Revolution."

Memorial University of Newfoundland also co-sponsored the travel of Memorial AquaNet graduate students and post-doctoral fellows to present their research results during AquaNet II.

The Canadian Aquaculture Institute sponsored the Animal Production Best Presentation Award. This award was given to a graduate student or post-doctoral fellow who presented an outstanding poster presentation of a research project within the animal production theme.

Taplow Feeds sponsored the Animal Production Award - Runner-up.

Corey Aqua Feeds (Corey Feed Mills Ltd.) sponsored the Environmental Integrity Best Presentation Award. This award was given to a graduate student or post-doctoral fellow who presented an outstanding poster presentation of a research project within the environmental integrity theme.




Aqua Bounty Canada Inc. sponsored the Environmental Integrity Award -Runner-up.

Nutreco sponsored the Social and Economic Aspects Best Presentation Award. This award was given to a graduate student or post-doctoral fellow who presented an outstanding poster presentation of a research project within the socio-economic aspects theme.

The Centre for Shellfish Research, Malaspina University College, sponsored the Social and Economic Aspects Best Poster Presentation Award-runner up.

Stolt Sea Farm sponsored the Industrial Partnership Award. This award was given to a graduate student or post-doctoral fellow who presented a poster of a research project that best demonstrates direct, relevant and timely gain to the Canadian aquaculture industry. Stolt Sea Farm also made an additional general sponsorship to AquaNet II.


The Canadian Aquaculture Industry Alliance sponsored the Aquaculture Industry Partnership Award - Runner-up.

Aqua Health Ltd. made a sponsorship donation towards a nutrition break during AquaNet II.

Poster sessions support knowledge exchange, contribute toward the dissemination of aquaculture research and as well provide great networking opportunities.
