Education and Training Advisory Committee

The Education and Training Advisory Committee was established in June 2004 as reformed committee of the previous Education Committee, and serves to support AquaNet’s mission to foster a sustainable aquaculture sector in Canada through high quality research and education. Specifically it supports the network’s learning opportunities aimed at increasing capacity and retaining highly qualified people.

The committee’s role is to advise the Executive Scientific Director on priority educational issues related to the development of Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP); recommend targets for learning outcomes, methods to achieve the targets and criteria to measure performance; advise on continuing education and professional development events and activities for network researchers; and suggest complementary extension and outreach educational initiatives that could be undertaken.

The committee is also responsible for fostering support for the Education and Training program for HQP and its integration with the research program and other areas aspects of the Network as part of a broader commitment to attracting and retaining HQP; to help identify joint project opportunities and secure external funding to complement AquaNet’s Education and Training activities and budget.
