| Title: | Aquaculture, Scientific Discipline and Networks: An Analysis of the Challenges Posed by Applied Research in Aquaculture and the Need to Cross Traditional Discipline Boundaries |
Research Summary
This research project focuses on examining the issue of aquaculture research as it involves natural, social and political sciences, and how investigators of diverse origins can combine their expertise to serve society and answer questions put forth by society in a manner that appropriately addresses society’s questions, and as well, strengthens and reinforces the researchers ability to co-operate and communicate effectively about aquaculture.
By analysing how aquaculture research on shellfish farming and finfish farming has been conducted in the past and by examining past AquaNet activities, the researchers aim to further improve the organisation and co-ordination of aquaculture research.
Research to date has focused on clarification of concepts, case studies on interdisciplinary research, and increasing the understanding of how aquaculture policy decisions have integrated research results.
